Shredded Pork Recipe, Slow Cooker Style
Slow cooker meals do require some planning ahead. But if you assemble the ingredients for this shredded pork before you head out for the day, you’ll come home to a wonderfully fragrant kitchen with dinner almost ready!

Ingredients
Pork roast — You can use a pork loin roast or a pork shoulder, depending on your personal preferences. The slow cooker will transform either into a tender, flavorful shredded pork meat.
Chicken broth — Use homemade broth or canned, as you like. This liquid helps to keep the meat moist and tender as it cooks.
Onion — I typically use yellow onions for this, but if you only have red onions on hand, those will do just fine.
Seasonings — Salt, pepper, cumin, and taco seasoning combines to give this pork a south of the border flair.
How to make this slow cooker shredded pork recipe
This is one of those fix it and forget it meals. Prepare the pork, put it in the slow cooker, and come back later.
Start by scoring the pork roast. This allows the flavors to seep into the meat as it cooks. Once that’s done, it’s a simple matter of placing the roast in the slow cooker with the broth, onion, and seasonings, and setting it to cook for eight hours.
When it’s done, use two forks to shred the meat and serve.

Make it a meal
The beauty of making this shredded pork is that people can use it to make tacos or taco bowls, customizing the toppings as they like. As the chef, you don’t have to worry about special diets or dislikes. Just set it up buffet-style and let everyone assemble their own!
Just shred the pork and make up a pot of rice or beans to go with it. We like to chop up tomatoes, slice avocados, and offer extra onions — diced white onions or sliced green onions — for our onion lovers. Cilantro? That’s always optional, but we love it!
Leftovers? Layer some of that tender meat with cheese and onions in a flour tortilla for an easy quesadilla.
